echo echo
a giant beast polar bear
with crazy saucer eyes
lunged at me
and i stuck my hand
in its mouth,
my fingernails scraping
into its gums
i could feel the bear’s saliva
dripping down my arm
and i wondered how
much longer i could
keep him from devouring me whole.
i wondered if his belly
would sound like an echo.
